I do not think we will find the following progression of events in the next build your church help book. (Acts 3:1-4:4)
Do something good.
Preach.
Get people stirred up.
Get thrown in Jail.
If we look at this progression, we could get some depression. That is if we forget about God. The fact is these Apostles didn’t get to see their altar call results. It wasn’t posted on the CHURCH Website for them to check up on and see. The only thing posted was their mugshot in the Jerusalem times.
What is that verse in the Old Testament by the guy named Joseph?
Gen 50:20 But as for you, ye thought evil against me; but God meant it unto good, to bring to pass, as it is this day, to save much people alive.
We are going to see God work in the midst of trouble.
(Sarcastically) I am sure the Apostles focused so hard on their immediate results (being thrown in Jail) that they lost their faith. They probably gave up and threw in the towel. Let us look at what happened...
Acts 4:5 And it came to pass on the morrow, that their rulers, and elders, and scribes,
Acts 4:6 And Annas the high priest, and Caiaphas, and John, and Alexander, and as many as were of the kindred of the high priest, were gathered together at Jerusalem.
Acts 4:7 And when they had set them in the midst, they asked, By what power, or by what name, have ye done this?
Act 4:8 Then Peter, filled with the Holy Ghost, said unto them, Ye rulers of the people, and elders of Israel,
So in spite of the trouble:
He had not lost the victory
He had not lost his ground
He was firmly planted in Jesus Christ
He was still full of the Holy Ghost
Then what happens to them?
He preaches to them
They threaten them
And they are released
On to do more for God
I’m telling someone to look down the road
Satan wants you to get so focused on the here and now. Whatever problem that has just arisen and forget revival right around the corner. Believe that God will in spite of the trouble, move in a mighty way.
